Zsolt Kamaras was born into a family of architects in Budapest, Hungary. He holds a master’s degree in architecture from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest and in design from the Sandberg Institute Amsterdam. He also studied furniture design at the Danish Design School Copenhagen, typography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam and sustainability at the Schumacher College Dartington. After these extensive studies he has never managed to fit himself into any of these fields solely, instead he works in between them. In 2003 he settled in Amsterdam and now shares a studio with fellow designers Wouter Nieuwendijk and Jair Straschnow.
